Long Island Mold Testing Service
Long Island Mold Testing
Mold is the most common indoor environmental hazard affecting the health of homeowners and property owners. Our inspectors are trusted professionals that can help you do something about it. Roberts Environmental Corp. is Long Island’s trusted expert in testing for mold and evaluating indoor air quality.
For the last 10 years, residential and commercial property owners have put their faith in us to provide mold testing and inspection needs. From Montauk to Manhattan, North Shore to South Shore, Nassau County and Suffolk County, our inspectors have experienced nearly every kind of event that can lead to mold growth.
Being that we only provide testing and consulting services, meaning we do NOT perform remediation, this eliminates all bias and conflict of interest. Our clients would need to hire a separate remediation contractor on their own, should we identify mold. New York State law restricts a company from performing the testing and remediation for the same project.
Roberts Environmental Corp. serves all of Long Island. We are the preferred environmental inspection and consulting professionals, as we are fully certified, licensed and insured.
Compliant With All NY State Mold Testing Laws
Our inspectors are trained and licensed in accordance with the NY State Mold Program established in 2016. Article 32 of the law, requires separate companies to perform mold inspections and mold remediation on the same project. This gives clients peace of mind and can save them thousands of dollars. Additionally, the law requires ongoing classroom training and certification of mold contractors. This will assure you that our inspector is knowledgeable about mold.
How Does Mold Affect Your Health?
As mold enters it’s reproduction cycle, it sporulates and sends thousands of spores into the air. When inhaled, these mold spores can cause serious health issues, including respiratory problems, asthma, wheezing, skin irritation, rashes, nail infections, blindness, etc. Depending on the type of mold, these spores can stay suspended in the air up to 6 months. When the spore settles on to a new surface, it may begin to colonize if that surface provides suitable growing conditions. Moisture is the main ingredient required for mold to grow. Sources of moisture include: roof leaks, plumbing leaks, condensation, lack of ventilation, burst pipes, poor drainage, high humidity – which is common on Long Island because of the geology and fluctuating water table. Mold can begin to grow in wall and ceiling cavities, and may not be visible. Testing is recommended to completely assess the extent of any mold contamination.
Identifying Toxic Black Mold On Long Island
Whether the property in question is a new build or an old foreclosure, there is no such thing as a mold free environment. Toxic black mold can be frightening, and can grow on porous surfaces including drywall, floorboards, plaster and wood. There are over 100,000 types of mold and several of them appear black. Black mold may not always be toxic, but it can cause health effects in healthy individuals, especially those with allergies or immunocompromised systems. The only way to know if the mold is toxic, is to have it tested. Consider hiring a professional to identify the mold in your home or business. Protect your family, colleagues and employees from the dangers of toxic black mold exposure.
